Oriental Eden: finding waste on the line with the people who run it

Husni Halim facilitating a Lean waste elimination session with Oriental Eden staff in Puchong

What I set out to do

On 26 October 2026 I spent a day with Oriental Eden at their plant in Puchong. My aim was simple: help the people who run the line see waste for themselves, then leave with a plan they own.

The room mixed production, quality and operations staff with supervisors, line leaders and some operators. That mix matters. When the people who build the product and the people who check it map the same process together, the conversation changes from blame to cause.

How I ran the day

I used a learn, discover, apply, present rhythm. We started with Lean and customer value, then the 8 wastes. Instead of handing over a list of problems, I asked the teams to map their own process steps and mark where the waste and yield losses sat.

From there we moved into problem solving with Pareto, fishbone and PDCA, so each waste could be traced to a root cause rather than patched.

From workshop to shop floor

In the line application workshop, groups of 3 to 5 picked a pilot area and built a 30-day countermeasure plan, then presented it to the room. We closed on sustaining improvement: who checks the plan, how often, and what happens when it slips.

The company version of this story, with the course details, is on the Visi Armada Consulting portfolio.
